To maintain the integrity of
the Team Fortress League (TFL), we hold players
accountable for their actions towards other
players, clans, and the admins that volunteer
their time to manage it. We do not tolerate
players who use cheats or are abusive to others
during a sanctioned TFL match. However, the
TFL believes that when some players realize
the mistakes they have made, they will not
do them again. For this reason, the TFL will
allow some players who are on the ban list
to go on the probation list and re-enter the
league.
There are three stages for a
banned player to be placed on the probation
list:
Stage 1 - Player
1. The player must find a clan that will sponsor
them to return to TFL.
2. The player must wait three months after
the banning incident in order to apply for
the probation list.
3. The player must make a statement apologizing
to the league for past indiscretions, explain
why they deserve to be placed on the probation
list and allowed to play in TFL, and provide
all past and current Steam IDs.
4. The player must give this statement to
the sponsoring clan’s leader.
Stage 2 - Clan
1. The sponsoring clan must have successfully
completed ten TFL matches.
2. The sponsoring clan’s leader will
make a probation request post in the TFL captain’s
forum. This post’s title will be of
the format: “Probation Request: [player
name here]”.
3. The sponsoring clan’s leader will
post the player’s statement, in addition
to why they feel the player is not a risk
to re-enter TFL.
4. The topic will be up for public comment,
among the clan captains, for two weeks.
Stage 3 - League
1. After two weeks of public comment has ended,
the TFL admins will evaluate the application.
2. Decisions for approval or denial will be
primarily determined by: why the player was
banned, attempts by the player to circumvent
the ban, the player’s attitude, contributions
to the community by the player, substance
of the player’s statement, substance
of the clan leader’s statement, and
comments by other clan captains in the probation
request topic.
If the application is denied,
the player can file another request in three
months.
If the application is approved,
the player is obligated to adhere to the following
restrictions in addition to all TFL rules
(if there are conflicts, whichever is more
strict supercedes):
1. The player will not mm1 during
any TFL sanctioned match.
2. The player will turn over personal demos
upon request, by an opposing clan leader,
without question.
3. If the player leaves their sponsoring clan,
they must notify the TFL immediately that
they have left and if they have acquired a
new sponsor. The new clan, which must have
successfully completed ten TFL matches, must
agree to all the responsibilities surrounding
sponsoring the player.
Violation of any of the above
restrictions is potential grounds for termination
of probationary status, meaning the player
may be placed back onto the ban list. Furthermore,
in the event that the player violates probation
terms, the sponsoring clan can be suspended
or removed from TFL. Clans need to take this
into serious consideration prior to sponsoring
a banned player.
The terms of the probation are
very strict, however, the player has already
violated the integrity of TFL once and it’s
at the league’s pleasure to let the
player back into the league. The penalty is
harsh towards the sponsoring clan, as only
our peers can truly gauge our proclivity to
engage in certain behavior. It is a risk that
the clan is taking, but a clan that is wiling
to accept these conditions is tacitly stating
that they have full confidence is the rehabilitation
of the player.
Remember, it is by the TFL administration's
"pleasure" that these players are
allowed back in the TFL. Posting inflammatory
comments on forums or making such statements
in IRC are even potential grounds for removal.
We are doing these players a favor, and thus
there should be appropriate appreciation in
return.
We reserve the right to cancel
this list or policy at ANY time.
